Zero Hour by Eamon Ambrose
This is a short review, but it's a short story!
Let me begin by saying that I'm reviewing the first book in a series, but this book isn't an episode nor is it a part of a serial. This book works perfectly well as a stand alone story and I'm reviewing it on that basis.
I really enjoyed this story. I'm a big reader of classic short stories so I'm hard to please, but this book works really well as an example of the form. The story is tightly paced, well controlled, vivid, atmospheric and a pleasure to read. Zero Hour will definitely appeal to scifi fans, but I think it has a broader appeal too. Short stories are wonderful when they pack a punch, and Zero Hour does not disappoint.
So if you like a good yarn, then give this a go. 5 Stars of story splendidness from me.
