Research for a Mystery
We visited Newquay in Cornwall for a couple of nights, and we stayed in this interesting hotel. The idea was to take a short break, but I can't help thinking that this place would be a great venue for a murder mystery, and if you've been reading Freshly Roast Mystery, you might be able to imagine Dan and Alan hurrying down the staircase to the scene of a crime.
I'm really enjoying writing a mystery, mainly because the characters already seem very real to me, but it is challenging in a very different way to much of my other work. There's an element of mystery in The Darkeningstone books, but a more traditional amateur detective story has a very particular set of challenges.
We'll see what happens, but for the moment, I hope you enjoy the pictures.
