Does your writing give you problems with your fingers?

Perhaps it's time you switched to an ergonomic keyboard.

RSI is no joke and carpal tunnel syndrome can seriously impact your health – just the thought of the the operation to fix this syndrome makes my eyes water.

And when I write a lot, my fingers hurt.  Sometimes I've found that they still ached even several hours after I've stopped writing for the day.

I've been through at least a dozen keyboards, but I'm sticking at the moment to an ergonomic keyboard from Microsoft:

It works for me but it does take a little getting used to.  Now don't be put off by its appearance.  When people see me using this keyboard, they usually say, “How the hell do you type with that?”

And yes, it is a bit of a beast to look at.  And it's big too – you'll need a decent-sized deskspace.  But I like it.  I like the wrist rest that's built into it, and I like the curve of the keys.  I find the forward and back buttons are great for web browsing and you can set up the custom favourite keys.

But the key thing is that I'm convinced it's helping my aching fingers.

Have you tried it?  Did you hate it or love it?

Comment away folks.
